China’s fast economic development has raised eyebrows worldwide and has become an international discussion topic. However, China’s economic growth also brings about an income gap. The excessive income gap has lead to social psychological conflict, misunderstanding and disharmony. Facing these social problems arising out of the excessive income gap, the government is taking vigorous measures and exploring different channels to minimize this gap and promote stable economic growth. Against this backdrop, NGOs shall make it their mission to help generate a civil society and contribute to social harmony.
The Launching of Interaction for Poverty Alleviation & Signing Ceremony of Minshen Education Poverty Alleviation Fund was held in the Great Hall of the People on October 17, 2005. Hui Liangyu, Commissioner of CPC Central Political Bureau and Vice Premier of the State Council attended the signing ceremony and unveiled the large public initiative, Interaction for Poverty Alleviation. As the first co-sponsor of this event, China Minsheng Bank donated RMB 31 million to CFPA for the establishment of China Minsheng Bank Education Poverty Alleviation Fund. Representatives from over 30 state organs and ministries such as Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, Civilization Office of CPC Central Committee, State Council Office for Poverty Alleviation and PLA General Political Department attended the event and extended their active support to the project.
